Castle Stories

Mrs. Swinnerton's Class

St. Alphonsus ECS

After reading numerous fiction and non-fiction materials about the medieval times, each student tried their hand at composing their own "castle" based story.

First, we brainstormed who the characters had been or could be based upon the stories that we read. We came up with the following list

Characters- Who could be in our stories?

Monster Princess Mermaids Queen
Kids Knight King Birds
Beast Prince Fairy Dragons
Us Giant Witch Vampire

Then, we brainstormed possible settings for our stories. Again, the list was quite detailed.

Setting- Where could our story take place?

In a Castle In a dungeon A castle very far away A castle at the bottom of a city
A new castle outside of an old castle In the forest A castle in the sky A castle in a dream
A tooth fairy castle A castle under the ocean On a hill In the jungle
A castle in a volcano In a Jell-O food castle In a castle next to your house A castle made of flowers
A brick castle A castle across the street from your house A castle fort in your tree A castle in a parade that is moving on a truck
In a castle made of apple A castle made of candy In a castle that has lots of bats A castle made of snow
A toy castle An Easter egg castle In a tower in a castle In an enchanted castle

Once each student started writing, the above elements primarily disappeared, but we were left with some interesting products anyways.

Once upon a time, there was a prince whose name was Prince Eric. There was also a Princess whose name was Make-A-Mess, and a witch named Hocus Pocus.

The witch was very mean and she banished Make-A-Mess to an ice cold coffin in the forest. Make-A-Mess lived there in the coffin for many years, and she was very bored.

One day, Prince Eric was out riding on his white horse. He found tracks in the forest. They were Princess tracks! He looked down and saw a princess shoe and a witch shoe. He tried to cut down the forest so he could find the princess, but the witch found him and banished him back where he came from.

The King and Queen were missing their daughter. She had been kidnapped by an evil witch! One day, the king saw the witch. He sent soldiers to follow her wherever she went. The witch went to the forest to see the coffin. The soldiers and Prince Eric followed her into the forest. The soldier and the horses and the Prince found Make-A-Mess in her ice cold coffin. Prince Eric kissed the princess to wake her up and then took her back to the castle. Then Prince Eric married Make-A-Mess and they lived happily ever after in a pink castle made of bricks.

Once upon a time, a dragon came to the castle. The castle was red and it had a triangle on top, and a rectangle, and a square, and a small square, and a door.

The dragon wanted to go in the castle, so he tried to go in the door. The door was too small and the dragon was too big. The dragon used his fire and burned the castle down.

Why The Princess Did Not Come to the Ball

By

Amethyst

Once upon a time, there was a queen. She asked the princess to sleep in the tallest tower of the castle. The princess fell asleep.

In the ballroom of the castle, a wizard came and made a party. He said "You’ve got four chances to change", to a mean wolf that was at the party.

The wolf did nothing and went home.

Then, the wizard made a song to the sky. The song was so beautiful that creatures from all around the Kingdom came to hear it. A mermaid even came who swam in the moat around the castle where there was lots of water.

The princess heard the beautiful song and woke up. A prince came in the tallest tower and gave her a kiss. They were in love.

The prince and princess got married. The mermaid swam under the water at the wedding at February.

The prince and princess ate some supper and shut the curtain so the sun wouldn’t get in their eyes. They lived happily ever after.
